This is a guest sermon I gave at Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church yesterday, discussing the importance of perseverance in writing and in other aspects of my life. Even if you’re not religious, I hope you’ll listen to this message and that it touches a base with and inspires you. Perseverance is vital to life, and for me, praying to God has helped me to keep persevering.

Thank you for sharing your feelings here, Andrew, and addressing the depth of strength needed to perservere. When I was in my early twenties I was very aware how my peers were advancing in their lives and I was stuck – no friends, no job, after dropping out of a degree course in science. I tried to get back to art, but it took me until my 30s for that to be the right time. I didn’t fall in love until I was 24, but that love has lasted for more than 30 years now. Writing was never part of the plan back then, but I eventually came into that too. So perserverence is everything, and yes, writing has given me more lessons to learn in that regard. I’m sharing this with you because I needed someone to share their story with me back then! Good going, Andrew :>)

The story of Joseph has really resonated with me as well. I listened to a long series on the radio about the story over many weeks of time in a particular rigorous season of my life.
And that Bible quote typo…😂 Reminds me of something from one of my favorite television shows (The Vicar of Dibley). Highly recommend the show. You can get the season from Walmart online for around $30 I think, give or take. (Or there are clips on YouTube).
Take care and God bless.
